Sunshine Coast Stadium Expansion Project

PROJECT OVERVIEW

• Sunshine Coast Council is proposing to undertake an expansion of the current Sunshine Coast Stadium site.

• At the time of reference design phase (architectural schematic design documentation), Council recognised Dean Hassall's operational and event management experience would be beneficial in reviewing the proposed Stadium plans.

DHC ENGAGEMENT

Stadium Expansion Project

• Sunshine Coast Council engaged Dean Hassall to act as specialist venue and event operations consultant within Council’s multi-disciplinary project team during design phase.

• The purpose of Dean's engagement was to provide advice and design considerations, from the perspective of a venue and event operations specialist, that enables Council to:

  • capture business objectives for the Sunshine Coast Stadium

  • understand risk exposure

  • build a comprehensive risk profile as different factors are revealed

KEY SERVICES & INPUT AREAS

• Attend Stadium expansion schematic design review workshops

• Review design phase documentation including proposed plans and models from a venue and event management perspective, with particular attention focused on:

  • crowd movement and crowd management

  • security operations, safety and security, and access

  • venue command (including use of technology and management systems)

  • venue compliance

  • [comment on] capacity audit

  • modes for stadium events, including concerts

  • venue load-in and exit strategy

DHC ENGAGEMENT

Stadium Feasibility Study

• In 2018, Dean Hassall was engaged to provide procurement assistance to Sunshine Coast Council for a major Stadium Feasibility Study (awarded to a consortium led by KPMG).

• Evaluation panel member for tender responses

• Ongoing assistance to Council via review of KPMG’s project deliverables and performance monitoring
